Rob, you are too kind. Thanks. Yes, that is the Preston you played, but she's in temporary retirement at the moment for structural reasons. I'm playing a modern copy these days - a 7-course built by Carlo Cecconi, which I am very happy with but would also consider selling as I'm getting another one soon...
(give 'im an inche an' he takes a mile...) Anyone who would like a hard copy of the CD, let me know. They're E10 plus postage. Nice art work and booklet. I started a publishing company last year with someone in the USA. We haven't gone on-line yet because we want to have more than one item to sell. That first item is the Demarzi CD. It is called Cetra and, not surprisingly, is dedicated to cittern music, and the plan is to put out CDs featuring cittern by soloists like myself, compilations featuring different modern players, and historical compilations from the various cittern centers, i.e. Portugal, Corsica, Switzerland, Germany, etc. We will also be producing ebooks and regular books. I'm just about finished with a tutor for 18th-c cittern - it should be ready by fall. So, any of you who want to come on board, let me know. We run it as a cooperative, splitting the profits with the artists. I've got a pretty good studio set up now, and it's also fairly portable. I can also work with recording that are already ready but need mastering. My partner is an expert editor and techie. One idea I had was to do a CD compilation of the players on this list - we could all do one or two tracks on our chosen citterns. I'm open to ideas. As for Magnatune, yes I'm pretty happy there. There is nothing like personal promotion for artists, but there is a lot of promotion of the site. It is basically an internet distributor and they are pretty good at that. John and his wife work hard at getting and keeping the site, and so the artists with their work there, in the media's eye.
