Hi Stuart,

Oswald used a guittar in G (as well as one in C) in his 18 Divertimento's
for Two Guitars (I think 1758). Number 14, for example, uses material from
Divertimenti VII from the 12 Divertimentis (1759). If the same fingering is
used as for the 12, the 18 version implies a guittar in G. Other items also
indicate a guittar in G. Also, in his Pocket Companion, he writes for both C
and G guittars. And finally, his 'A Compleat Tutor for the Guittar with two
Scales shewing the method of Playing in the keys of C and G'. He shows
written-out scales with fingering for the two instruments.

Rob

Is there extant music by Oswald for a guittar in G? The only music I ever
came across for a guittar in G was some extremely basic stuff that could as
well have been played on a guittar in C.
