Thanks for this Frank! I've been running around around like the proverbial headless chicken these days, but I've finally had a chance to check this out. When I was working up the Merchi duets with a mandolinist I decided that the 2nd guittar part would be more interesting if I filled it out like a continuo part, more or less following the instructions in Rutherfoord's tutor. The result was quite nice. I don't think that continuo playing was typical of the instrument, but it certainly is possible and fun.
