Hi All meanwhile I talked to Dr. Michel and he too is quite sure, that in 1755 that Vienna instrument was a cittern. The director of the museum where the Archduke Ferdinand cittern is exhibited, had no clue, because "they have never specialized in folk instruments". I still try to find an Austrian specialist for the item.
