Dear all,
What an exciting time this is! New cittern discoveries AND new facsimiles!
I have just received word that TREE EDITIONS has just published a
facsimile edition of Phalese and Bellere's Hortulus Cytharae of 1570.
This print contains music for 4 course citterns in 2 sections, one
for diatonic ("French" tuning), the other for chromatic fretting
("Italian" tuning). According to the TREE catalog, the price is 35 Euros.
Details and catalogue can be found at www.tree-edition.com.
Unfortunately, I haven't put up a list of the contents of this
particular book on my site yet (but maybe this is a good excuse?).
Details, however, of how this book compares to other extant prints
can be seen there at http://www.cittern.theaterofmusic.com/printed/index.html.
Happy playing!
Andrew
