Hi, By now I know that the hwkatakana have some special treatment in the CJK latex package :-) They are included in the Unicode.sfd, but I was surprised to see that they are not included in the SJIS.sfd, only 2-byte characters are there. So that means there is no reference file for these character positions in SJIS, right?
I have a file SJIS.txt from the Unicode consortium which I can use as reference and for codepoint conversion for now. Question about sfd2uni.pl: is it right that the sfd-file must contain the target Unicode codepoints? If so, then the script does not care what mapping its input is in, it determines how that input will be mapped to Unicode. If that is right, I can modify the script to handle just one file, and make a sfd file containing the needed output Unicode codepoints in sequence. Is that a reasonable approach?
