Hello,

as soon as I include
\usepackage{pinyin}
in the header of my .tex document, I get an error in this formula here:
\begin{displaymath}
P(s_1^I| t_1^I) = \Pi_{i=1}^{I} \phi(s_i| t_i) d(a_i - b_{i-1})
\end{displaymath}

Apparantly, Latex now tries to interpret my Greek \Pi (the
multiplication sign) as Chinese pinyin, regardless of it being
sourrounded by a displaymath environment...
The resulting error is: "Missing number, treated as zero", because,
well, \Pi does not have a tone...

Is it possible to use pinyin locally? / Any ideas?

Thanks.

Kind regards,
Andrea
