Just had to share with the list what a great time I had at Windsor. It was
my eight trip to the U.K. but my first to a summer show. The weather was
beautiful, the entry was beautiful, and the day was truly delightful. I
strongly urge anyone that can go over for a show to go to the Club Show in
March first, but the summer time rates second for me. The show sight was
packed with too much to see in one day, but the weather was a nice break
from the typical cold rainy weather that usually greets you in other times
of the year.
The best part of my trip gave me the best birthday I've ever had - visiting
Sheila Smith and seeing all the Salador dogs. I have never had such a great
time looking at dogs, talking dogs, and hearing the great stories Sheila has
about the shows, people, and dogs of the past. Then to see her sit down and
write out pedigrees for me from memory, including all the colors, ages, CC's
and RCC's for five generations. And I thought I knew my bloodlines well!
Could I pick a favorite?? Well, hard to narrow that down to even single
digits, but Ch Salador Cegovia was right up there as a favorite for me. At
11 years old she oozed with breed type and was totally stunning to look at.
Gave me goosebumps. I just wanted to stay there and look at her. What a
birthday present. The only thing better would be to have something from
Sheila myself that I could enjoy, love, and look at every day.
So - a wonderful time and wonderful birthday for me - one that I hope all
Cavalier lovers have the chance to enjoy. What a memorable occasion for me!
