Last night when I was at work and reading the local newpaper, I came across
an ad called www.pups.com and in this ad they stated that they had many
breeds and Cavaliers were one of the choices. It just upset me so much to
see this happening way up here in NH. I must say that my red headed temper
got just a wee bit ahead of me and I emailed this woman telling her how
distressed I was to see that puppy brokers had managed to make their way
into NH. She replied by calling me a bigot and a racist for critizing her
operation. I wrote her back trying to explain to her that it was because I
care so much about my breed that I was upset and then tried to explain to
her the puppy auctions from the midwest. I will never ever forget how my
heart just broke looking at the pictures of Joseph with Lucky Star and the
picture of Lucky with her urine stained legs and her numbered tag around
her neck. It still makes me cry when I think about it and revisit those
pictures on my website. I wonder if these brokers have any clue about the
conditions that these poor dear dogs have to endure and if they would
change their minds if they saw some of these auctions...or if they just
don't care??
This woman's page when looking at it, does not seem that bad other than she
is offering soooo many breeds. She goes on about how these pups are not
raised on wire and how she does not send them off with papers for breeding,
so that the average person may think that she is reputable and better than
a pet store. If they could only see and know the places that Lucky and
many of the other rescues have come from and the long upward climb to
helping them become happy, adjusted dogs....and the ones that we see are
the LUCKY ones as they have managed to escape that system, perhaps it would
speak volumes.
It all just breaks my heart :(.
