I put the clearances (copies on the mother and father of the litter), a
health worming and shot record with the vets busines card and always a note
saying to return to vet on a specific date for next shots. You would not
believe how many people think they have had their shots like all their shots.
a 4-5 generation pedigree, pictures of dad mom and often dogs in the pedigree
(sometimes put many on a page) The registration papers.A small sack of food
they have been eating a chewie or two. and always a care sheet explaining
feeding, housebreaking, health and grooming and things not to do. I often
send this home in advance for them to study before picking up puppy... A list
of resources (books and internet).Sometimes I send home a small scented towel
or stuffed animal that has been in with mom or pups. I usually manage to get
this all together the day before people are coming as I am so scattered.
Todays puppy buyers are extremely well educated in knowing what to ask for
about health issues, clearances etc. Soon mandatory testing won't be a worry
because these puppy buyers are more and more educated and will not tolerate
less. Thanks in large part to the internet and our local clubs educating
them before they ever get to a breeder. I have not found one person who has
called about a Cavalier who does not know what MVD is. Some know the
protocol. Chere.
