I'll start with a disclaimer the dog in this story is not a cavalier but it
could have been
One warm summer evening several years ago I was setting at the computor. The
windows and doors of the house were open and the lights were on. It was a
Friday evening and I was the only one on my block home. I answered a knock on
my door and there stood
two Wichita police officers with a small poodle in their arms.
They had found the dog wondering in the street. This was a well groomed
little poodle
but an old one that had no teeth and appeared to be blind. The officers ask if
I kew who the dog belonged to, I didn't. The officers then ask me if I could
keep the dog, because they would have to call animal control and did not want
to.
One officer explained because of the rules they had to follow they could not
call the lost animal hot line but I could. This officer was also willing to
make lost dog posters and put up in the neigborhood if he could do it in my
name I agreed.
I took the dog in the house my cavalier (see I did manage to make this
cavalier related)
sniffed her and decided to snuggle with a scared little blind dog Little Dog
let out a big sigh and curled up on the couch with my Caitie
With Little Dog settled in I got on the phone. Well the lost animal line was
not being answered until 8 am the next morning. One of our local stations
has a new tip line so I called it, and talked with the "Ole Mike" that did
the news on the local station at night.
I started out with saying have I got a story for you. With everything you
hear about what the police do wrong I want to tell you about the two that are
in my neighborhood and told him the story of Little Dog and the two great
police officers that found her.
This story was broadcast all night long every hour.
At & am the next morning my phone was ringing. It was the Captan from the
area precinct. Who said do you have a little lost dog at your house. I said
yes I do and he told me the owners where there looking for her.
Turns out little dog belong to the woman's elderly mother and she had got out
of the yard
and had been lost for 3 days. The elderly woman lived almost a mile from me
So mircles do happen.
