Greetings, everyone; After much deliberation - and discussion with one of my assistant channel managers - I have decided to remove the "bot" Fido from the #Showdogs chat channel. While it's purpose in the channel was for the protection of the channel (and that of the chatters), there was some confusion on the part of some chatters as to it's purpose, and therefore some questions and discomfort. As I ponder its absence I can only hope that we are never hit with any kind of flood-bots, hackers, takeovers, or any of the other potential problems that the bot was in the channel for, and why the channel was always 'open' and occupied by the bot. However, the chatting comfort of our regular participants is important to me, so we no longer have the bot. I have to remind people that we discourage really large .txt-files or pop-ups - not everyone can 'see' them. and they do fill up the window to the exclusion of some of the chatting: hiding the chatting text sometimes! The channel is still set up to boot off anyone "flooding" the channel - that is a protection issue that won't change. But my parameters are a bit more loose than the bot's were! And you all know that I, too, love those fun pop ups, lol.... School is about to start, everyone (the teen-aged humanoids of my family, that is) will be busy with school, studies, and activities, so I will be able to reclaim my evenings and weekends (or at least some of them, lol!), soooo I'm looking forward to having more time to plunk down for chatting online. I'm hoping that people - regulars and new chatters - will join me, and I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone!
