Hello list. I am writing this from Canada after judging the Canadian Cavalier National
Specialty. The winners have already been reported but thought you might like to know
some other bits and pieces. The venue was a smart Hotel resort in Aylmer, Quebec
called Chateau Cartier with the show held in the ballroom. Puppy Sweeps judged by the
well known Jo Ann Carvill took place on Wednesday evening. I don't know who won so
maybe Jo Ann can fill us in. Thursday was Conformation day with a respectable entry of
89 plus Brace, Stud Dog, and Brood Bitch classes. The committee had worked extremely
hard especially Elaine Whitney and Sherry Daigle and the show ran like clockwork. The
sales tables groaned with goodies to buy and the winners went home laden with prizes.
I will send in my critique after I get home.
In the evening there was a banquet with a buffet dinner and the wine flowing freely.
The Club's trophies were presented to all the winners by Elaine Whitney, President of
the Club, and the atmosphere was light hearted with everyone having a good time. A
mammoth raffle was taking place in between the awarding of prizes and Bob Whitney did
a great job keeping things moving along. It ended a most enjoyable two days of
overdosing on Cavaliers and it was especially nice to catch up with people from the
list.
On Saturday was another Cavalier Specialty held within the Cornwall and District
Kennel Clubs All Breeds show. This was held outside and the setting was just
beautiful. The ring was set up on the grass down by the riverside and had a picnic
like atmosphere. Puppy Sweeps was judged by Joan Wood who found her Best Puppy in
Peggy Wallace's Blenheim, Brinklow Timpani at Burbrook. Stephanie Abraham a Breed
Specialist from the USA judged the Regular Classes and Gordon and I were thrilled when
she chose Ch Craigowl Ghillie as Best Of Breed. "Jerry" was ably handled by John
Harris, a friend of his owner, Donna Robillard. Best of Opposite was Norma Moffat's
Ch Brinklows Rosybells. Winners Bitch was Donna Robillard's Winrob Tri Snoodles Thymes
Two. Winners Dog and Best of Winners was Phyllis Lasser's Welmforth Promises To Keep
and Best Puppy was Ann Moore's Quinderia Secret of Solomon.
It had been 6 months since we had seen "Jerry" and he looked great. Canada certainly
agrees with him and he made up to Champion really quickly. Well done also to Phyllis
on making up "Promises to Keep" to Canadian Champion.

After the Cornwall Specialty on Saturday were the normal classes for Cavliers at the
All Breeds Ch show. The entry was slightly different with Linda Ronaldson's Tri dog Ch
Sheryane Rutherford Jamieson winning Best Of Breed under All rounder judge Mr F
Peddie."Jamieson" was shown by Shelly Hodgkinson. An enthusiastic group of us stayed
on to cheer Shelly in the Group and we were excited to see them win! Well done. He
looked a treat.

We have another week here and plan to see some sights including hopefully some
Mounties!

Canada is a lovely, lovely country and the people are making us feel very welcome.

Will write more later.

Norma (Craigowl)
