Hi Sue:

Again, not being at the CKCSC,USA shows for about five years, I do have
a question about the professional handlers rule. When I showed CKCSC,
professional handlers were allowed to show there own Cavaliers, just not
other people's Cavaliers. Now presently, we have many professional handlers,
judges who were professional handlers at one time or another, that have
Cavaliers and are breeding and showing them along with other breeds.
Hypothetically, if these handlers show at a CKCSC, USA show and are handling
their own dog but asked by a friend to take one of their Cavaliers into the
ring due to both of the friend's dogs being put up, is this acceptable now or
not? Many of us Cavalier people had two breeds when we showed CKCSC. I had
English Toy spaniels and Cavaliers and while at the AKC shows showed my
English Toys and also a friend's Saluki or Irish Setter, but never considered
myself a professional handler and did not take money for my handling. I
then still showed my Cavaliers at the CKCSC shows and helped show my
friends Cavaliers. Another thought maybe the differentiation comes as to
whether the person handling is certified by the PHA and making their living
by handling others dogs.

It just seems that the lines are alittle finer now days. Didn't much think
about it back then.

Tina
