Tina and all:

When your Regional Club is licensed by AKC, you can have a judge from
any country you want come over and judge. There DOES have to be a
reciprocol agreement between the country the judge is from and AKC.
However, AKC has reciprocol agreements with all major registries in the
world. For instance, last year when the CKCSC of Puget Sound held their
first AKC point show, they had Jenaie Montford from Australia judge.
This year, at their show in September the Sidgwicks from U.K. are going
to judge. He is going to judge seeps and she is going to judge all the
classes and BOB.

AKC all breed shows as well as many other breed specialties have foreign
judges from time-to-time. My own all breed club has, over the years,
had judges from Japan, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Mexico,
etc., etc. AKC has an agreement between themselves and all of these
countries and more.

The key is that the judge must be approved to judge that breed in their
own country and, if the judge has not judged in the U.S. before, you
must send your application to AKC for them to come over about six months
in advance to get all the paper work back and forth. When your Regional
Club gets to that point, if you want, I can help you with it.

When the AKC approves a foreign judge to judge over here, they also send
them guidelines for our shows and at the show itself, the AKC Rep. is
there to help the judge understand the judging procedure. Many judges,
like Jeanie, do not need much (if any) help because they have judged at
other AKC licensed events and know the procedure.

I hope that has answered your question. If it is not clear, or if you
have further questions about this let me know.

Carol Williams
