You said they occupied 20 floors and I have been hearing on the news the same information about AON occupying the top 20 floors. >> Thank you for your interest, but unfortunately today did not bring much good news. One of my neighbors (with young children) worked with both his father and his brother. His father's body was somehow found, but still no word on either he or his brother. One of my grandsons has twin boys as his friends....they lost their father. Another of my grandsons had a friend whose mother did not survive. A man who has gone sailing with my husband on his boat was on the Pittsburgh plane. And a colleague of mine was called by her husband from his cell phone while he told her that he loved her and knew he was going to die. They, too, have young children. The only good news came when my husband called to tell me that Sara, his cousin, worked in the WTC as an attorney. She has been with that firm for 7 years and has missed just one day of work in all that time. Yesterday, she did not feel like going to work so she stayed home. Obviously, a miracle since her office was above the crash site and she has not heard of anyone from her firm surviving. As for the people from AON, yes that is the company I was talking about. My friend's boss (they work in the Westchester office) had gone into the city for a meeting with men from their Chicago office. After the first hit he called to say that he was getting out of there. The others waited. When he reached the 40th floor there was an announcement telling them there was no danger and to return to their offices. He decided not to listen. He is safe....and I believe he knows of only one other woman who got out as well. The shock waves of yesterday's tragic events will continue to be present for years to come. The magnitude of the devastation and disruption cannot be calculated. Many of us have already been touched by this personally and many more of us will be touched in ways that we cannot yet comprehend. I know all to well that you don't have to have lost a family member to feel the impact of what has happened. I see the fear and confusion in my grandchildrens eyes when they hear about their friends. How can we explain what happened when we don't understand it ourselves. I have no doubt that children all over the world are having nightmares as well.
