A Canadian company based in Toronto have already sent twice the number of pairs of Muttlucks that were requested to New York. To those who are unfamiar with them Muttlucks are fleece lined , leather soled bootees with reflective stripes especially made for dogs engaged in work on rough terraine. On our island we are doing our bit to help. Many, many litres of blood have been collected and taken by ferry to the mainland, today they are being flown to Toronto. They will then be distributed to where the need is greatest. The overseas flights into the west coast of the US when the tragedy struck were not allowed to land in the US and were diverted to Vancouver, Canada.The airport coped with over sixty international flights, most from the Far East and most Jumbo jets.
