Bailey's favorite toy is a plastic egg - a large Easter egg or a "Leggs"
egg - I put half a dozen dried beans in an egg so it rattles (she seems to
like the noise), super glue it together / closed, & away she goes with it!
She loves to bounce after it when it rolls at the crazy angles an egg will
go. It's amazing how long the egg can take being rolled & tackled before it
needs re-glued. I keep a close eye on it so it doesn't break apart where she
could chew on an egg half, & I use the large eggs so there is no risk of it
lodging in her mouth...
I've never tried dog litter - but what has worked extremely well for us is
to break a 500 crate (I have Bernese too lol) in half, put the open ends
together, & put towels / blankets / bedding in one half & using news roll
(non printed newspaper) in the other half. The pups don't take long to
figure out the paper end is the potty end. My recent (April) litter of
Cavaliers was raised this way & we split the crates apart at about 7 weeks
so they could use the paper end of the crate or go outside. These 2 pups
were extremely easy to "finish" housebreaking when they went to their new
home.
We're entered in 2 shows this weekend. Looking forward to this! Haven't had
Bailey in the ring since last fall prior to breeding her. Fingers crossed
here! Will be taking both Bailey and Choo Choo (her daughter) to the
supported entry at Del Valle on October 21...
Hilarie Gibbs-Sykes - I've been tryin to reach you the past couple weeks -
not getting your responses if you've tried to answer me!
