Susan Jackson asked if anyone had already done a chart. The answer is Yes. Lots of people. Several of the books on the breed have described the inheritance of coat colour in detail. John Evans' book in particular has made it very easy. A few issues ago, the magazine TOP NOTCH TOYS had an article by Marilyn Mayfield with 2 full pages of little dog shapes showing what colours you could get in a litter sired by a pair of dogs of particular colours. The accompanying text with this article requires careful attention, but the article made colour inheritance as plain and easy as the nose on your face. For me, it is so easy I can't imagine why anyone would have any difficulty understanding it. Black is dominant to red (in whole or parti). Solid is dominant to parti. If you know the dogs in your pedigrees you have no trouble figuring out what colours NOT to expect..... Peggy
