> Could be things like understanding structure and movement as it relates to > type- understanding
As an ex-horseperson (sadly) I agree that structure and just plain knowing anatomy of an animal is very helpful. Also caring for and training horses transfers nicely in many instances from one species to another. One advantage I found is seeing a structural problem in a horse, and then RIDING it and really feeling how it affected movement. Lameness in horses gives one a real appreciation of the value of structure... If your horse is not sound, it can only be a pasture ornament, and a very expensive one! Admittedly structure is one piece of the puzzle, but it is an important one. Also, I had the misfortune of watching someone breed unsound outcrosses in horses and saw the disastrous results. (She was trying to develop her own line...) If one does that in dogs, the result is the same - not pretty.... In addition, I'd rather deal with a sherpa bag than a horse trailer any day!!!
