RE: The woman wanting puppies as donation She has to have a non-profit federal ID number which you can then check to see if it is legitimate, at least from the "charity" side. Who knows beyond that. Have her give you her tax number and then you can call and verify (in fact, she is supposed to hand out those information sheets like United Way, Red Cross, etc.). That is my understanding.
