As a breeder of Aussies I don't use ivermectin based wormers on my dogs.
Some aussies as well as many British based herding breeds, have a
sensitivity to ivermectin. In most dogs it does not cross the blood brain
barrier, unfortunately in some individuals it does. This is the first time I
have heard of it doing such in a cavalier. from what I have learned in
individuals the affects of the drug only last 24 hours. But if there has
been any brain damage it can take much longer to recover from this damage.
Some of the reactions can be drooling, staggering, seizures, coma and
sometimes death.

Best of luck with this dog Judith.
