Hi List, I thought this was so cute I just had to share. I have had my Aussie pup for 5 weeks now. She was the same size as the Cavalier when we got her and now she is quite a bit larger. If you haven't lived with a herding dog puppy, well they can be BAD puppies:) Just mischievous and high energy really! Anyway, she is too much for Tuffy, my Cavalier, she just trounces him when she tries to play with him. The first few time this happened one of the older Aussies was jealous cause she did not want the puppy to play with anyone else and she would get the puppy away. I praised her for this and now she has a job. She watches that puppy and if she so much as glances at poor Tuffy, she is right after her stopping he in her tracks. (in a nice way) A herding dog with a job is such a happy dog! And no, the puppy and Tuffy are never left together unsupervised!
This is the same Aussie who will use a toy to get Tuffy away from the people. We call Tuffy the "toy nazi" No one can have toys but him. He watches and if anyone gets a toy he is right after it. Now when Echo, the Aussie, wants attention she gets a toy, makes sure Tuffy sees it, drops it in front of him and comes and gets love while he goes off with the toy. I love dog dynamics.
