I don't know who write the above but I did read the rebuttal written by
Laura who talks about puppy brokers importing cavaliers, etc. I don't think
that is what the writer of the above was talking about.
I was recently at a show where a lovely man approached a breeder and asked
about buying a puppy. The response? "I have a litter (7 puppies) but I
don't know what I'm going to do. No matter what the poor man did or how he
tried to sell himself as a "worthy" dog owner, he got nowhere.
Normally, when I am asked about puppies I ask "what are you looking for?"
Once we narrow it down to dog or bitch, pet or show, color, etc. then I
tell them if I have or will have something for them and if I don't, I try
to help them find a puppy. More often than not, I have seen Amerian
bredeers respond like the one at the show. I told the man to call me and
I'd give him thephone number of abreederin England who would be happy to
sell him a pet tht would cost him no more than buying one righthere. There
will be no strings attached and the breeder I have in mind is not a puppy
mill and I am certainly not a broker by any wild stretch of the
imagination. I just really hate to see prospective pet owners who are
enchanted with our breed, have to jump through hoops in order to spend a
couple thousand dollars to get one.
