Dear List
I think it's time to stop arguing about co-ownerships, pyramid schemes,
etc. People are starting to get defensive and just about everything that
needs to be said has been said. This sort of thing goes on in the dog world
in other breeds too. Recently I ran intro a situation in Australian
shepherds that was so ridiculous it was almost unbelievable and people tend
to complicate their lives and their relationships so much more than is
necessary. To get along with one another and enjoy a mutual interest is the
real challenge. Some one mentioned that one of their cavaliers had been
bred to a Maltese (obviously due to their lack of vigilance and/or control)
and while I don't advocate breeding mixed breeds, this was my first response:
In light of the recent world developments that have people in the largest
free country in the world running around buying gas masks and stocking up
on antibiotics fearing terrorists lurking around ever corner, does it
really matter if a cavalier is bred to a Maltese?
Why don't we all pursue our avocation in the best and most ethical way we
know how and above all, keep it in perspective. As breeders, we are
privileged to keep these darling dogs, show them, breed them, try to
improve them, love them, and share our joy with other people. It is an
opportunity: make the most of it.
