Kim,

You bring up some excellent points insofar as what you say to people and what they
hear. I
would hope most breeders have more than one conversation with their puppy people
before a
deposit is sent and before a puppy is sold, whereby they could further discuss whether
or
not the puppy is going to be altered (for real) before going home or at 6 months or
later.
Furthermore, I would hope that the breeder goes over each part of the contract with the
buyer before they sign.

I don't have any concrete answers to all of our worries and I doubt anyone else does
either. For those who will do early spay/neuter then they will never have to worry
about
one of their babies ending up in a mill. For those who don't I was only making a
suggestion
as to how we may ward off "educated miller/byb's" on an *initial* inquiry. However, I
do
not suggest for one second allowing a prospective buyer believe a breeder is going to
do
something they're not going to do for any longer than necessary to determine that they
are
on the up and up.

As far as early s/n in Goldens someone on the work_gold list we are both on is a big
proponent of it and claims that the pups don't grow up leggy with bad heads, while
others
say they do. I don't know I've seen plenty of unaltered leggy Goldens with weak heads
from
well known lines but I have no first hand experience so I cannot really state an
opinion.

Breeding neophyte...hmmm....neophyte yes, but I've never bred a litter.

Terrie:)
