'tis the season for recipe sharing. This is a wonderful receipe that I've had for about 15 years. I introduced it to the Junior League of Knoxville when I was an active member, and it was served at every meeting. I give it as Christmas gifts, and take it to many gatherings. It's always requested from people who have had it before!
Cracker Candy 40 saltine crackers (2" x 2") 1 cup butter (no substitutions) 1 cup brown sugar 1 (12 oz. pkg. chocolate morsels) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place saltines, side by side on a foil covered cookie sheet (with sides). Bring butter and brown sugar to a boil. Boil three minutes, stirring constantly. Spread mixture over crackers. Bake five minutes. Sprinkle chocolate morsels over baked crackers and let stand five minutes. Spread evenly. Refrigerate until hard. Remove foil and break into pieces. Keep refrigerated. Hints: You must use butter. Does not work well with margarine. Do not substitute graham crackers for saltine crackers. It makes it much too sweet. Enjoy!
