Dave, What is your problem? I can relate very well to the pros and cons of judging that Jeanie has mentioned. One recent assignment for me involved two plane flights (first one delayed)on arrival, no dinner(too late) No breakfast the next morning (due to late arrival and the office being closed the prevoius night). After 3 and 1/2 hours judging, finally, some food! Luckily, I have a husband who copes admirably when I am absent. He whelps litters, gets bitches bred and even shows the dogs to good wins. We are allowed to charge a small fee (up to $50NZ) per day but fares and accomodation are expected. So, if you think judging is all beer and skittles, glamour etc think again.

Leanne >> You are absolutely right Leanne, some shows are probably pleasant judging assignments while some I am certain are not. Some I have been to are awful even to show in with the sun beating down on an open field on a hot August day. My apologies for not being clearer on that. My original post (to which Jeannie referred in her horror story of those awful judging assignments) was referring to these better overseas assignments some get that turn into nice vacations and many people often solicit openly. If I painted a picture that all judging assignments are great that was innacurate. For Jeannie to paint a picture that judges are saints for taking all of those horrid judging assignments is just as innacurate. If you refer to a post from her dated May 31, 1999 to this list (in the archives) she seems to have had quite a nice time traveling to the UK to judge. I am fairly certain I have seen other posts of her wonderful travels to judge also but can not back that up with copies at this point. All in all its a far cry from the picture painted in her latest post. As with most things the truth is somewhere in the middle There are good judging assignments people actively seek and bad ones people take for the benefit of those who show. My apologies for not being clearer.
