Sorry for this late posting, but better late than never I suppose.

I used to get exasperated when being asked what kind of dog I had: the usual
routine was that I would reply 'Cavalier King Charles Spaniel,' only to be
given the reply 'Oh you mean a King Charles then?'. I would then correct the
false assumption by explaining the visual differences between the two only to
be told 'Yes, I know just what you mean - these are King Charles Spaniels.'
Grrhh.

However, as I said I used to get exasperated but these days it has got worse
as our breed is scarce where I now live. The usual story is that I answer
the enquiry by saying 'Cavalier King Charles Spaniel' only to be told that
they have a Stafford/BullTerrier/Jack Russell, followed by something similar
to 'Well I don't suppose I will be able to afford a dog with a good pedigree
either when I retire from work like you!' One even had the effrontery to
suggest I must have got my dogs as mongrels from the local shelter, and she
supposed they were cheaper o buy because they are small. OUTCH, outch,
outch. Violence was not an option as she was twice my size and so was her
CROSS BREED.

Well, folks, I just give up, I have no answer to that, well not one that I
could post to this List. Has anyone any idea how to deal with PRATS?
