Your bitch will be bred twice a year at the very most. So....two times a
year, your bitch would be on a brief run of Baytril. Your dog could
conceivably be bred 12 times a year and sometimes much more often.
(Certainly not here) So....less risk for the bitch to be put on a brief run
than the boy to go on every time he is bred. It is an interesting thread.

Myra, you are so right, and conceivably is the right word. However in my
experience I can often say that my bitches have more litters i.e. 2-3 than
my boys have studs.

The other most important thing is that the bitches are carrying fetuses, the
boys are not.

I really feel that both dog and bitch need to be tested each time and if
either have a problem then the appropriate remedy is prescribed. I'm sorry
I cannot accept that "blanket" antibiotics is a good approach and I'm sure
contributes to the high level of resistance.
