Here is an excerpt from what someone told me about eye stains in Persian
cats. I have not tried this but thought it was interesting. I hadn't
heard about this before, but maybe it will help some of you looking for
solutions. Have any of you heard of this?

<I use a very soft thin baby washcloth dipped in warm water (no soap!) to
cleanse the inner corners of his eyes and the "muzzle furrows" that are
those crevices from his eyes down past his nose. Then I apply a topical
antibiotic cream called "Tritop" (available by prescription from your vet)
along and into the furrows. Tritop is like "Neosporin Plus" for humans. It
has an analgesic (pain-killer) along with its' antibiotic properties, so it
helps soothe any irritated skin in this sensitive area. After this
treatment, which I do once or twice a week, as needed, the ointment
dissolves in and disappears within a couple of hours, and Silver has no
dark eye-staining material left at all!

Before the vet prescribed the Tritop, the warm clean (no soap!) washcloth
helped reduce the brown staining, but didn't get rid of all of it, and poor
fella, sometimes Silver's tear duct and furrow areas were so raw that he
had hair loss along the region. So I'm really glad to have been prescribed
the Tritop by the vet. It's in a small tube that's about $15 but it lasts
for about 2-3 months, which seems reasonable for the benefit it provides.
Silver himself seems relieved to no longer have itching and discomfort in
the eye and "muzzle" area.>
