Hi Gail,

Did your vet say what type of murmur it was your Cavalier had at three
months--- perhaps an "innocent murmur" or an "insufficency flow murmur"?? I
ask because I have been heard that there have been no cases of MVD murmurs
daignosed under the age of two years (I do believe this statement was
attributed to a board certified cardiologist).I do know that not all murmurs
are serious. There is no heart disease present, just degree of tubulence
that is within the normal range. These are often referred to as "innocent"
or "functional murmurs". At three months of age, I would expect this is
what your Cavalier had. A friend of mine had a male puppy who turned up with
an insuffiency flow murmur at 11 weeks. It was discovered when the woman
who purchased him took him for his vet check. Subsequently, my friend took
the puppy to a board certified cardiologist who sees a great many Cavaliers
in his practice and participates in CKCSC, USA Health Clinics, and he made
the same diagnosis as the veterinarian had --- insufficeincy flow murmur.
My friend was told usually these usually resove themselves as the puppy
matures. In this particular puppy's case the murmur was gone by the time he
was 9 months old.

All the best.
Susan
