> Hi List and Marilyn- For a gazillion years, I feed once a day, in the evening, with significant cookies in the am...preggie and nursing moms got fed 2-3 times a day. I liked this as 1.) The show dogs didn't get (accidentally) fed in the am before a show and weren't foaming at the mouth all day, waiting for their meal 2.) Evening rest after the meal as opposed to morning play-an issue in big dogs who can bloat and 3.) I am not a good person in the morning, and didn't want hungry dogs facing me first thing. However, starting last summer, I got some new dog walking help in the form of (the wonderful) Sandra. She is a married college student, and wanted to come by at 1pm after her classes, not in the evening like my last help. So all the doggies get a comb out and walk, then she feeds them as she leaves. They get light cookies in the am and just before bed. It have been a revelation! No hungry dogs when you wake or get home from work (well, they're always hungry, but not desperate), no worrying about getting home in time to feed in the eve-usually there's someone around mid-day on the week-ends and Sandra is there during the week. Even with no "Sandra", I would try to manage the mid-day meal as the doggies seem so much more content (of course, they like Sandra so much, that may be the crux). Aloha- Kim Johnson
