Puppy litter is made from paper products, so that if they chew/swallow it, it does no harm. I do know of people who use wood shavings in the litter box, however. I personally like Purina Second Nature. Expensive, but with a small litter you don't have to change it every day -- just pick out the soiled areas with a baggie-gloved hand. I have used a pebble-like litter called "puppy go potty" or something like that. It changes color when soiled, which is nice, but is lighter in weight and tend to fly out of the litter box. The Second Nature is more like paper tootsie rolls instead of paper pebbles, so it is heavier and stays in the box better. Leanne
