The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, recommends lepto every six months to one year. I called to discuss this with them and ask them why they recommended this, when there are so many adverse reactions to it, etc. They told me that there at been several outbreaks of it in this area in the past year, and they felt it was important. UT's vaccination protocol is: 1) Regular puppy series and annual vaccines at one year; 2) lepto every six months to one year; 3) bordatella every six months if boarding, showing, or in situations where kennel cough could be caught; 4) coronavirus annually; 5) rabies as required by law; 6) DAPP (or DHPP) every three years; 7) lyme disease is recommended annually in counties where dogs are at risk. My vet does not give lepto, however, and I would not want to give it to my dogs. My vet does include coronavirus in their vaccine, and I wish they didn't. I have discussed this with her, and she feels it's necessary, says they've seen enough of it to think it is necessary here. I always bring her any articles I read about the vaccination controversy, and I know she reads plenty of them herself. I will take her Leanne's as well as the one Peggy just posted.
