Cathy... These individuals have passive/aggressive personalities...and it was not you, it would be someone else!!! The rule of thumb is...if a person is gossiping to you about another person...they will gossiping to the next about you!!!
When my beloved Father passed away...I wrote in my personal journal, "My Life's Lessons"...my basic goals for my life... The first paragraph read... "What I have learned through my life is to respond in a loving way to others indiscretions and weaknesses, so that, I do not become part of the ongoing problem. Also to keep my pride in check, so I may grow through exposing, exploring, and overcoming MY imperfections". I feel if everyone tried to act this way...we would have more understanding of others and personal growth.
