Hi Sue - You might want to try something a friend of mine does for weaning. She buys those baby one piece rompers or whatever they're called, and puts them on the bitch for supervised periods of time to give her a break from the puppies. They are worn with the snaps going up the dogs back, not her tummy. I think she uses the 18 month size. FWIW
