> This article has some pretty scary stuff-but not really surprising
Jan, I read the article on chemicals for flea control and it was very scary
but not surprising to me either. In Texas before I knew more we used
Frontline on our dogs and I should have known something when they hated to
see me coming with it. Our dogs can tell us so much if we are only listening.
Thank goodness we don't have a flea problem up at 8,500 feet in Colorado. But
when we move to Virginia. . .I will have to see what Whole Dog Journal
recommends for natural flea control and buy it by the gallon.

Liz, it certainly is nice to live in an area where fleas just aren't a problem! We
live in Eastern WA state where I have yet to see a flea, though I know flea remedies
do a good business here. The pet stores and vets really push them. I wonder if these
pet owners have ever seen a flea or even know what a real flea problem is. We moved
here from San Diego where there were fleas. I know most people dipped used collars,
flea baths etc. We never did anything except flea comb the dog ( an Aussie with a
double coat, no small task) and cat we had at the time. I have heard if your animals
and yard are healthy-grass not dirt, then it is much easier to control fleas. I could
not believe what they listed as some of the inert ingreds.-lots of dangerous solvents!
I too am interested to see what the natural remedies are.

Liz, you make a great point-listen to your animals:)
