in the past, yes there has been bashing of handlers, however, in this
particular thread, there has been no bashing. all that was said was that it
was a sad situation where the majority of cavaliers at a big show were shown
by professional handlers. there are some breeds that are not a handlers
breed, and i feel that this should be one of them. i happen to handle for
other people and i have helped out some of the bigger handlers in other
breeds at times when they needed it, but in this area of the country when a
class dog in cavaliers is sent out with a professional all breed handler, the
majority of dogs are not the quality one would like to see being shown. i
originally came from a breed that does not get all breed handlers. yes,
there were handlers and some quite well known, but they were breeder handlers
and would not in most instances embarrass themselves by taking a dog in the
ring where the quality leaves alot to be desired. the odd special in
cavaliers that is handled by a professional all breed handler, for the most
part is a quality dog, but unfortunately i cant say that about the class
dogs. most of those are dogs that the owner has shown a few times and just
cant cut the mustard because the quality is not there. giving the dog to a
professional handler almost always insures that at some point the dog will
win and therefore finish which is most unfortunate for this breed.
