Myra, those marks do make a difference, when the chips are down.

Having just had a litter of seven puppies, from two cleanly marked face
parents(and Gr Parents) we had 3 mismarked faces. There was only one female
who had a "beauty" mark on her show side, which we could have lived with and
shown her. But her off-show side had brown down the muzzle to the nose. Very
sad as she went as a pet and was the only female in the litter. We discarded
the obvious mismarks from Day one, too heartbreaking otherwise!
As a judge I would not disregard a mismarked face IF it was the best dog in
a lineup, but I would not show it.
(We try to keep only bitches to carry on to the next generation)
To keep a male we believe they have to be almost exceptional!!<VBG>
