At the time in question, people were breeding as normal and making up dogs weighing sometimes 30-35 lbs, more the size of Cocker Spaniels than Cavaliers."
Flo. Are you for real? We entered the dog arena in the early 70's and in my opinion the mid 1970's to the late 80's saw a rich vein of quality Cavaliers the like of which has never been repeated. "Almost 20 years or so ago" would fall into this period. I certainly don't recall 30-35 lb Cavaliers being made up in the UK. At that time you had the likes of Champions Homerbrent Carnival, Sorata Fissical, Crisdig Cracker, Salador Celtic Prince, Craigowl Cashmere, Chamanic Finistere, Kindrum Sylvia, Homerbrent Emerald, Craigowl Hoodwink, Hilarny the Gigolo, Fontelania Burnt Toast, Telvara Krystal Kascade, Milkeyn Flame, Chamanic Lucasta, Hilarny the Don, Ricksbury Only Charm, Salador Crystabelle and the list could go on and on. "Being disgusted at what was happening to our lap sized dogs as > compared with the breed standard, I just happened to be one of the first here > that decided to actively try to breed correctly sized dogs. Not wishing to appear rude can you tell me about the dogs you have bred as having been around the block more than once I am unfamiliar with your "active" contribution to the breed and for the life of me cannot place you. Do you or did you show? At Championship level? As my interest in our breed is immense and stud dogs producing good quality puppies are fairly well known in Cavalier circles I feel I should know your dog who was used by many and sired winners. Yet, I am puzzled you are unknown to me. You seem to be on a different planet. Breeding for small heads? You cannot be serious. No offence intended but even the way you sign your posts suggests to me you should not be taken seriously. Am I wrong? Norma Inglis (Craigowl) UK PS Looking forward to learning more about you and your dogs.
