I was in the line up and was standing with my dog when the handler behind me was on his knees with his dog he moved into position in front of his dog once it was stacked and put his body in front of my dog so my dog was completely behind him I could not move forward because the handler in front of me was on his knees behind his dog. so I waited until the judge looked at the dog in front of me and then I took a step forward and placed my dog in front of the handlers body behind me so my dog could be seen you should have heard the handler in front of me yelling and screaming that I was blocking the judges view even thought the judge had already finished looking at his dog. Guess he felt she needed to look at him one more time. It was very nasty. I stayed there until the judge finished looking at my dog then as she moved down the line I stepped back in place behind the other handler but I did not get on my knees. This handler continued to yell at me even after they got up and started the go round. Finally I told him to Shut up and show his dog. I really hate the games of intimidation some of the handlers tend to pull on others.<
Oh Flip, that doesn't sound like fun at all. What happened to the good old fun days in the US? Allowing for differences of opinion, IMO, more often than not, the best dog won and not too much thought was given to presentation (both handler and dog). Everyone seemed to have fun. I know I did. Those who did a better job of handling often made their dogs show to better advantage but that's fair. (Honest folks, I'm not getting back into the kneeling -vs- standing thing). I think if there are so many problems with judges not putting up the right dog (perceived or otherwise) then I would be inclined not to bother trying to work out which judges not to show to and rather concentrate on only showing to those whose opinion I did value. If the problem is so acute that it only allows for a dog to be shown a few times a year, Oh well, go to the show just for the day out and the fun. This would also allow you to see whether the judges at that show should be added to the list of those you would show to in the future That would be far less frustrating.
