Well, I am just so proud of 7 month old Cozij. We just finished our first
Clicker Class (puppy grade) and she won the only prize for perfect
attendance, a squeaky toy for the best trick (learned for our last week of
class and she worked perfectly on the clicker with the other three handlers.
I can't recommend the Clicker method highly enough. We were in a class with
three huge puppies: a German Shepherd, a Golden, and Labrador. The first day
of class as they bounded loose across the hall she would only run away and
hide under the chairs alongside the wall and screamed if any of them bounded
toward her. I think she was picking up on my fear that she would be
accidently hurt by them. By the second class she was so intensely watching me
for food and instruction that she didn't even acknowledge their endless
wrestling and running about. By the third class she was chasing them around
the room. Our trick for graduation was to pick up three of her toys and put
them in the toy box. I hoped to just get her socialized before show time
starts next month but I learned you can teach these smart little dogs
ANYTHING! What a world that opens for her and me.
