Tina, When you send ups from a business to a residence this sucharge does not *necessarily* apply. My husband's business does a lot of shipping to retailer's, however, when they ship to a residence (sometimes samples , for example,will go to a residence) they do NOT pay any surcharge. FED-Ex is the only one that I am aware of with a surcharce for residential shipping and this is $1.00. I order a lot of products on-line both for my dogs and for personal use. Most often these orders are shipped UPS and I have yet to incur a $2.00 surcharge for residential shipping. Now, places like Mail Boxes Etc. may impose a surcharge for residential delivery on UPS shipments but then they are running their shipping as a profit center and IMO, their prices tend to be outlandish. Care-A-LOt is the only Pet Supply place I've ever dealt with that attempts to impose such a surcharge.
