back to reality now - so finally found time to write a little about the trip....

well... apart from the excitement of the Club Show & Crufts, I had the great pleasure
to venture past Birmingham for the first time and head "North".

The "North" was definitely the place to be.... a great place full of friendly people.
I talk of course of Newcastle..... home to many Cavalier enthusiasts.

The "Northern Experience" was further enhanced by the "night of nights"... I talk of
course of the party at "Craigowl" at Clavering House the new home of Norma &
Gordon Inglis. What an international evening..... Australians, Swedes, Dutch, Americans
and of course some very well known "pommies".... Brian & Kevin "Ricksbury", Bill
"Rytonion", Shealagh "Maibee", the Gatheral sisters "Kershope", Rob Sansom
"Byermoor", the Turnbulls "Peakdowns" Pauline and Ian Sidgwick, "Paulian," the list
goes on......

Gordon acting as butler in his dinner suit met each guest as they arrived. Norma and
Shealagh dished up the food, Darren my friend from Melbourne acted as drinks
monitor, ....I think I was supposed to be the "coat man" but failed miserably. A
veritable banquet of fine food (beef, salmon, turkey, ham) and wonderful company.

This to me is what travelling overseas on a "doggy" trip is all about - you see the
dogs at the show but its the conversations over dinner or drinks, visits to homes that
make the trip something special. It was nice to meet Jan Tornblom of Hackensack
Cavaliers,Sweden, Peter Gustavsson "Vouges", Sweden, Ted Eubank,"Pinecrest"
Cavaliers, Texas, Patty Kanan, Judi Gelderman, Joanne Mitellman, Cindy Lazzeroni
and Patty Fensterwald from California, Phyllis Lasser from New York, Ria Kavelaars
from Holland and many more new friends.

I understand this "event" may be repeated next year and I would urge any Cavalier
enthusiasts to make the trip up North where you will be made most welcome.
I saw many well known "winners" and a host of new, young and exciting youngsters
ready to make their debut.

It was my first venture "up North" and I look forward to planning my next trip. It was
a truly memorable visit.
