Once upon a time before health care professionals became more knowledgeable about wound care, they used to mix up a solution called, I believe, Dakins solution, which contained Clorox to use directly on open wounds on people. There are many newer wound care protocols now which would simply never use Dakins, but the people did survive and their wounds did heal albeit more slowly. Certainly it could be toxic, but if it is rinsed well, I too, believe it to be safe around dogs. Myra
