There's a pet peeve of mine that irritates me even more than the umbilical
hernia issue. Have any of you ever educated your puppy buyer about the raw
diet and then had them take the puppy to the vet who then absolutely has to
run several expensive tests because, according to most vets, the raw diet
creates worms, salmonella, and chemistry panels that are out of whack. Of
course, one negative word from the vet and that puppy is on kibble for the
rest of it's life. We board our puppies for free for the length of their
life, so we get them back quite often and can compare them against pups from
the same litter that we kept. The difference is pretty marked. The pups
fed kibble are always larger, have teeth that are getting plague and
staining, and are usually on Program, Advantage and sometimes a flea shampoo
to boot. This last time, I noticed as well, a change in pigment. This was
a puppy who had lovely auburn and white coloring, who is now twice as large
as her litter mates with very faded pigment. I'm not sure what they are
feeding her, but clearly not something that is working. Myra
