My little boy has been through cycles of this. He's now almost 3. As a
puppy he just LOVED his fuzzy toys. He has been through two periods of
excessive marking to the point where, the first time, I took him to the
vet, being concerned about an infection. After he checked out ok, the
vet tech said "It's the spaniel in him!". She indicated this is common
at like 9 and 21 months (I can't quite remember the specific times) and,
indeed, she was close to target. His marking (except when he's
outside!) decrease to almost nothing. Now he only humps the Big Dog
(golden)'s head when he has one of the toys, bones, etc. and it's a
dominance thing. And,yes, the he's just the sweetest, most loving and
affectionate dog I've ever had. Love him to death!
