I'd like to express appreciation to Laura, Suze, Myra and Jackie for some
especially thoughtful comments re the isssue of CKCSC / ACKCSC. And I was
glad that Tom Faulkner came out of lurk with his well-written post; As a
non-breeder I belong to CKCSC (I gather ACKCSC wouldn't have me!) and have
always figured it's pointless for me to protest being regarded in the same
"pet-owners" group "blamed" for how the CKCSC vote went (I joined subsequent
to 1998). But I'll say Tom asked some worthwhile questions.
Suze's suggestion of professional mediation is terrific, and even better
with Laura's idea of a petition supporting it - I imagine many non-breeders
would sign it too. ***Could someone please make sure that those of us who
can't get to the Nationals can add our names?*** Finally, I'd like to say
that if I knew how to embroider, I think what Myra wrote should go on a
pillow (have to be a really big one, though): "A code of ethics that
doesn't put the dogs first in every manner imaginable is not a code of
ethics worth my consideration, certainly not my compliance." Even a
pet-owner can appreciate this...
