Diane,  Unfortunately, this particular hypothetical question (Terrie's) is
not beyond reality.  When it comes to what "Most people" do, you're
certainly in a much better position to know this, having worked for CKCSC,
than I am.  But unfortunately there *are* people out there who will import
registered KC dogs (paying, as you wrote, for the dog *and* shipping *and*
US registration, even though Yes, they could get one here and spend less).
We all know that people's decisions are not always governed by logic!  I've
actually met people who have done exactly this, either because of their
personal idea that such a dog had more "cachet" or because they were
bamboozled by a broker here (and I've been told of one in the next county)
who took advantage of their ignorance.
